Who is eligible for the Property Tax Fairness Credit?

Homeowners or renters who:

• Were Maine residents during any part of the tax year

• Owned or rented a home in Maine and lived in that home during any part the year as a primary residence

• Paid property tax or rent on the primary residence in Maine

• Meet certain income and property tax/rent paid limitations

• Are not married filing separately

Sales Tax Credit

You may be eligible for the Sales Tax Credit even if your rent is subsidized or you live rent free! The Sales Tax Credit is based on your income, not how much you spend for sales tax.
